The list below provides information on various external scholarships for undergraduate students.
Teck Cominco Ltd. Scholarship
A third year student in geosciences or materials science who has demonstrated a sincere interest in the mining, chemical, or metallurgical industries. The recipient should show qualities of leadership and engineering promise, be in the upper half of his/her class, and be eligible to work in Canada. The scholarship may be renewed once in fourth year provided that the recipient has achieved satisfactory standing in a full third year program. Apply to the Department of Earth Sciences or the Department of Chemistry by September 30.
Student Industry Field Trip (SIFT)
Preference will be given to students majoring in geology, earth science or geoscience who have completed their third year. The student must be or become a student member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologyists (CSPG) prior to their application, and must demonstrates an interest in some or all of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology and has an interest in the petroleum industry.
Student Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW)
Full-time student enrolled in their 3rd of 4th year of an undergraduate program with a major or specialist in earth sciences. The student must demonstrate an interest in some or all aspects of economic geology, structual geology, petrology, volcanology, geophysics and their relation to mineral deposits, as well as a strong interest in pursuing a career in the mineral exploration industry. KEGS Foundation Geophysics Scholarship
Full-time student in a geophysics program or a closely related field. Application required.
GAC PDAC Logan Prize
Undergraduate student who is academically sound, has good leadership skills, and has done well at field school or otherwise shown proficiency in field techniques. A student in their final year is preferred. Application required.
