Brief statement of nature of research:
Tephrochronology is concerned with the use of tephra beds (volcanic ash layers) to develop reliable, regional, time-stratigraphic frameworks and an improved understanding of the record of volcanism through their identification, correlation, and dating. The major thrust of current studies is in support of palaeoenvironmental/palaeoecological studies of Late Cenozoic sediments in the Yukon Territory and interior Alaska.
