Climate and Tectonics in Nepal
The landscape of western Nepal is shaped by lithologic contrasts, tectonic uplift, and the erosive forces of rivers, glaciers, and landslides. Hypothesized, isolated remnants of a paleo-Tibetan plateau have somehow managed to survive in this environments. This project will investigate the tectonics and climatic forces that have shaped the western Nepali landscape using GIS and cosmogenic nuclide dating. A PhD student is sought to work on this project.
