Alumni News call for submissions

Dear Earth Sciences (formerly Geology) Alumni,

As Editor of the Alumni News, the time has arrived when I start thinking about items for inclusion in our next edition, to be published in February next year.    Although the magazine informs you about the past year’s accomplishments of the Earth Sciences Department, it is also a forum for hearing your latest news. I am looking for items of broad interest related to your activities over the past year.  Alumni are particularly encouraged to send information about their life and achievements after graduating and any humorous reminiscences of their time in the department. Generally, a few short paragraphs together with a picture or two will suffice.

One aspect I am presently working on relates to the theme of what was the moment you decided to enter earth science as a potential career. Was there a “turning point” when you decided that Earth Science was for you? If you have a humorous, strange or serendipitous story about this critical moment in your life please send it to me for possible inclusion in the magazine.

Also, if you hear of any alumni who have been in the news and who might contribute a short article, please let me know.

I will be requiring a superb photo for the cover, so if you think you might have a candidate please send it along!

I must have your input by NOVEMBER 15th, but please send it as soon as possible, and especially now if you have any suggestions or leads that I can start following up immediately. Please note the earlier than usual deadline because we will be trying to get the magazine out in January rather than just before the PDAC.

Sincerely,

Henry [Halls]

Professor Emeritus
