The Department of Earth Sciences seeks 1 Course Instructor for the following course:
Course Number and Title: JGA305H1F – Environmental and Archaelogical Geophysics
Course description: Application of near-surface geophysical methods to investigate environmental and archaeological sites; in particular magnetometry, resistivity, ground-probing radar, and seismic surveys. Course will cover background on the various methods, and allow students to run field surveys and present on case studies. Prerequisites: ESS 241H1 or ANT200Y1 or GGR201H1; Distribution Requirement Status: This is a Science course; Breadth Requirement: The Physical and Mathematical Universes (5)
Estimated course enrolment: 40
Estimated TA support: 90 hours
Schedule: Lectures Wednesdays 2-5 pm; September 6 to December 6, 2018; examination period December 8-21, 2018
Sessional dates: September 1 to December 31, 2018
Please note: This position includes the completion of any course work and grading not completed by December 20, 2018.
Rate of Pay: $7,596.16 plus 4% vacation pay
Final availability of the position(s) is contingent upon enrolment, budgetary consideration and the determination of appointments by the hiring unit.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree, or enrolment in a Ph.D. program in geology or a closely related field is required. In exceptional cases a M.Sc. may be accepted. Experience teaching geosciences at the university level will be preferred.
Description of duties: The instructor will be responsible for effectively delivering the course with all of the attendant organizational issues of lecture and tutorial preparation and delivery, setting, supervision and marking of exams, final course marks, course evaluations and so forth.
