ESS330H1S Introduction to Geologic Field Methods 34 3 120 01-15 May 2015 Previous experience doing geological mapping in the field including knowledge of rock and mineral identification in outcrop, an understanding of geological mapping principles, including the use of a compass-clinometer for taking geological measurements of structures. Whitefish Falls field course. Preparation for the field trip, setting up field exercises, assisting students in the field, grading of assignments, maps and reports (both verbal and written assessment).

Knowledge in the subject area, being familiar with field work and comfortable camping. Fieldtrip to the US Southwest (including Death Valley and Grand Canyon). TA will assist with preparation for the fieldtrip, helping students with exercises, and grading of assignments.

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement.      
Although a graduate student’s preference as to the campus location of his/her TA appointment will be taken into account, both the initial TA appointment (or CI appointment) and the subsequent appointment obligation related to that appointment may be met through position(s) on any one of the three University of Toronto campuses (UTM, UTSC or St. George) in courses in the same discipline as the initial appointment. TAs will only be assigned to courses in fields in which they are or should be qualified to assist.
